Donora warns dog owners to clean up after their pets

Donora will crack down on dog owners who don’t clean up after their pets.

Borough Administrator Terri Petroske and Councilman Joe Greco said they’ve received many complaints that some dog owners aren’t picking up after their dogs while they walk them on sidewalks throughout Donora, in Palmer Park and other parks.

The owners in question aren’t using supplies and throwing the waste away in garbage bins located throughout the parks.

Public works employees have been struck with dog feces while mowing the grass in the parks.

Council asks all dog owners to be responsible and keep bags with them to clean up after their dogs while they’re walking them and to dispose of it properly. Donora police have been asked to crack down on violators.

Officers will be on the lookout for owners who aren’t abiding by the ordinances requiring owners to clean up after their dogs, and officers have been told to issue citations upon seeing violations.
