Stephen R. Lanier – Donora

The Heaven-bound train once again has come through the Mon Valley and stopped so Stephen R. Lanier, 77, of Donora, could get on board, Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, in Jefferson Hospital. He was born on June 1, 1943, to the late Douglas and Esther Lanier. He worked for Xerox most of his career and loved his family. Stephen “Steve” Lanier was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Douglas C. Lanier and wife Janet, Joseph L. Lanier and wife Patricia, and Selby “Willie” Lanier; sister-in-law Peggy Lanier; and grandson, Jasper Juniow. Stephen leaves to cherish his memory one brother, Philip (Marie) Lanier of Monessen; four sons, Steve (Merri) Lanier of Fort Wayne, Ind., PJ Lanier of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Terence S. Arterberry of Rochester, N.Y., and Torance S. Arterberry of Rochester, N.Y.; five daughters, Ranell M. Cook-Carlock of Donora, Stephanie R. Lanier of Rochester, N.Y., Anita Lanier Blash of Akron, Ohio, Celeste D. Cook Varner (Hector) of Rochester, N.Y., and Caren Lanier-Hammett (Vincent) of Atlanta, Ga.; two dear close grandchildren, Martine J. Carlock of Pittsburgh, and Montell J. Carlock of Donora; close nephew, Craig C. Lanier of Monessen; 31 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. The family requests that ALL who attend the service to wear a mask and social distance as much as possible. Thank you in advance. Viewing will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020, with a service starting at 3 p.m. All will be at HOUSE OF JACKSON MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 546 Thompson Ave., Donora. Final celebration has been gently placed in the hands of House of Jackson Memorial Chapel, 546 Thompson Ave., Donora, Pa., Karl Jackson, funeral director, 724-379-5420.
