By obits

Roy “Denny” Johnson, 72, of Rostraver Township, passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2020, into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. Born in North Charleroi on Sept. 22, 1948, he was the son of the late Roy “Pang” and Elsie Marie Johnson. Denny was a faithful member and servant of the Free Methodist Church. Denny retired in February 2015 from Guttman Oil after 38 years of service. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and was also known for always lending a helping hand where needed. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy Johnson, who stayed faithful and committed by his side. Also surviving are two daughters, Denise (Chris) Wilhelm of Perryopolis, and Jodi (David) Phillips of Belle Vernon; grandchildren, Jessica Phillips and Jacob Wilhelm; many nieces and nephews, including Jeremiah Haines, son of Gary and Marlene Haines, who was like a son to him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Myra Pascarella, Alta Bobin and Leona Roberts. As per Denny’s request, there will be no public visitation. A funeral service will be held promptly at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, at Journey by Grace Church, 4803 state Route 51, Belle Vernon, followed by interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests monetary donations to the Journey by Grace Church or the Char-Belle Free Methodist Church.
