New Eagle Borough Council voted Tuesday to move forward with improvements and changes to the area’s Maple Avenue ballfield.
Council members Jack Fine, Tanya Chaney and Barry Williams approved the installation of battery-operated cameras at the field at a cost not to exceed $300.
Police chief Kevin Harris recommended trail cams as a way to get started with using security devices.
“They’re an efficient route to go to start with to see if you’re going to catch anything,” he said.
The move to install the cameras comes after police reported vandalism in one of the field’s dugouts. Harris said the incident occurred about two weeks ago and involved graffiti being painted in the dugout.
