John W. Tomaceski – Charleroi

John W. Tomaceski, 97, of Charleroi, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020. Born on June 3, 1923, he was the son of the late Martin and Valeria Tomaceski. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish and was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport. He was an Army veteran of World War II and he received the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. John is survived by his daughters, Valerie (Leo) Couture, of Wakefield, Mass., and Joan (Frank) Stasiowski, of Newton, Mass.; grandchildren, Amanda (David) Bernabei and Jonathan Couture; great-grandchildren, Elle and Aden Bernabei; and nieces and nephews, Joe (Zofia) Tomaceski, David Tomaceski, Patty (Lonnie) Wood, Francis (Rose) Barbic, and Barbara Barbic. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Betty Lou (Deutchki) Tomaceski, in June 2020; son, John Michael Tomaceski; brothers, Joseph and William Tomaceski; sister, Felicia Barbic; nephew, Martin Barbic; and niece, Sandy Tomaceski. Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, at CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Charleroi, with interment following in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be sent to www.spallinofuneralhome.com.
