Jaguars beat Rams in OT

When Ringgold and Thomas Jefferson met last month, goals were in short supply.

The Rams led by a goal for a majority of the contest before the Jaguars scored a pair late to come away with a 2-1 win.

Based on the limited amount of shots that found the back of the net Monday, more of the same was seen in the rematch.

The result brought with it a sense of deja vu, too.

Aiden Mohideen scored the game-winning goal with less than six minutes remaining in overtime to give Thomas Jefferson yet another 2-1 victory over Ringgold in Section 3-3A play Monday.

The win gave the Jaguars (10-3, 8-3) a season sweep of the Rams (2-8, 2-8) and allowed them to extend their winning streak to five games.

“I have to give Ringgold all the kudos in the world because they played a great game. They’re well coached and they didn’t quit,” Thomas Jefferson head coach Doc Kulish said. “We got the ultimate outcome. We wanted to win.”

Mohideen netted the deciding goal with 5:48 on the clock in the overtime period.

He set up in the box on a corner kick from Jordan Chiprich and scored on a header that beat Ringgold goalkeeper Jeremy Mullen.

“It was a closely contested match and we gave it all we had,” Ringgold head coach Matt Snyder said. “Unfortunately, it came down to a similar position where it’s a single play and a single decision that lets the game get away from us.”
