Charleroi Area School District: Company donates plexiglass dividers

Students in the Charleroi Area School District who need extra help outside of regular class time have received support from a company to keep them safe while they learn.

Superintendent Dr. Ed Zelich said the district was contacted by AGI Senior Account Executive Ken Wiltz about helping the district address a need as it prepared to welcome back students in the midst of the pandemic.

For students who require extra support in classes like reading, speech, special education or life skills, the company has designed and installed plexiglass dividers, worth $10,000, in 20 classrooms in the elementary center, middle school and high                                school.

The company met with teachers and staff to determine what exactly student needs were before designing the dividers, which are individually assembled and can be easily removed or relocated from classroom to classroom.

Without the help, Zelich said, it would not have been possible for the district to implement the added safety measure.

“Will this prevent the virus? Possibly. But more important it is an added layer of protection for our students who need extra support and to be able to more closely interact with their teachers,” Zelich said. “So for this, we are extremely thankful. Financially, this is not something we would have been able to do otherwise.”
