South Allegheny’s girls soccer team certainly took its lumps last season.
The Gladiators won just three games and went winless in Section 3-2A. They lost 14 games and were shut out 10 times.
“They had to learn from that,” SA head coach Andrew Dyson said. “It’s tremendous what they’ve done to step up this year.”
Nowadays, things are a little bit different for the girls in blue and gold.
Already having doubled their win total from last year, the Gladiators are currently sitting in a playoff spot with just a few section games remaining.
SA continued its impressive campaign and gained further separation near the top of the Section 4-2A standings Thursday by capturing a 3-1 victory over Keystone Oaks on Senior Night at Glassport Stadium.
“It was a tough, physical game. We really had to step up,” Dyson said. “It was just one of those games we had to come through and win with the playoffs coming up.”
