There’s a new acting police chief in Elizabeth Township today.
Sgt. Jerry Cimba was named to the interim position by unanimous vote Monday. The commissioners also voted to advertise the position to be filled permanently.
Cimba replaces Chief David Kerestes, who retired last month following a 31-year career in law enforcement.
Cimba reported that the department is seeking a new information technology company for its computer system because the company it had been using is going out of business. Cimba said the current firm has an extensive background with law enforcement.
“Our network is pretty complex for security and reports,” he said.
Also Monday, the commissioners learned that Eric Tissue of KLH Engineering will retire and John Mowry, president of KLH, will take over duties with the township for the company. Monday was Tissue’s last official meeting, though he said he would sit in on the commissioners’ next meeting to help Mowry.
