Rams hammer Uniontown for first win of the season

In Ringgold’s first two games, slow starts resulted in big holes for the Rams to dig out of.

In Friday night’s nonconference game against Uniontown, Ringgold only needed 15 seconds to get rolling, and the rout was on from there.

The Rams scored on their first play from scrimmage and on each of their first three possessions in a 48-6 victory over the Red Raiders at Joe Montana Stadium.

Junior running back John Polefko had a career night with 10 carries, 167 yards and four touchdowns in helping the Rams hand Uniontown its 33rd consecutive loss. It was Ringgold’s first win on the field in nearly a year.

The victory was bittersweet for Rams head coach Darwin Manges, who lost his father this past summer. Darwin Manges Sr., who was honored before the game, was a former native of Uniontown.

“This one was for my dad; he passed away this summer,” Manges said. “He would have been here tonight, it was nice to give my mom the game ball.”
