Jack E. Schollaert – Powhatan, Va., formerly of Long Branch

Jack E. Schollaert, 81, of Powhatan, Va., formerly of Long Branch, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020, in St. Francis Medical Center, Midlothian, Va. A son of the late Frank and Ruth Blevins Schollaert, he was born in Monongahela on June 16, 1939. Jack had been a resident of Virginia since 2007. He was a member of the New Walk Bible Church in Powhatan and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and deer hunter. Jack retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen plant, where he was an engineer for the Monessen Southwestern Railroad. He is survived by a son and daughter in-law, Patrick and Maggie Schollaert, with whom he made his home; a daughter, Suzanne Schollaert of Aliquippa; four grandchildren, Shea Malone, Tess Baker, Jacob Schollaert and Caroline Schollaert; two great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Schollaert and Sullivan Charles Malone; a sister, Peg Tomayko of Rostraver; and two brothers, Frank Schollaert of Rostraver and Thomas Schollaert of Knoxville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Joy McCall Schollaert, on Sept. 15, 2015. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2020, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com, 724-929-5300. Face masks are required in the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Schollaert officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. If friends wish, memorial donations may be made to New Walk Bible Church, 2390 Emanuel Church Road, Powhatan, VA 23139.
