Elizabeth Forward girls soccer coach Brandon Gerba didn’t want to see his players with their heads down after suffering a 7-0 nonsection loss to Belle Vernon Area Saturday.

Instead, he wanted them to think positive.

“Take positives away. Go home, watch film and think of the things you did well,” Gerba told his team. “Use that as fuel for Monday.”

Gerba’s message was evidently well received Monday night as the Warriors offense erupted for 24 shots and five first-half goals in a 7-0 victory over West Mifflin in Section 4-2A play Monday at Warrior Stadium.

“I told them when we started to go out, score early and score often, and in that first 25, 30 minutes, they put them in,” Gerba said. “That is what I have been waiting the last two weeks to see. I was happy with it.”

The Beinlich sisters paved the way for the Warriors (3-1, 3-1), combining to score four of their five goals in the opening half.

Senior Natalie Beinlich opened the scoring less than five minutes in as she blasted a shot from around the 15-yard line. It found the back of the net past West Mifflin goalkeeper Emily Beck, who finished with eight saves in the loss.
