Barry Patterson, 81, of Donora, formerly of West Chester, Pa., died Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, in Donora. He was born Dec. 11, 1938, in Donora, the son of the late Ottis L. and Gladys Dixon Patterson. Barry was a graduate of Donora High School, Class of 1956. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in 1962. He then served in the Army Reserves, where he attained the rank of staff sergeant. He was a former member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Donora. After employment at the Monongahela Daily Republican and the Donora Herald American newspapers, Barry worked at Lukens Steel Company in Coatesville, Pa., as the EEOC manager for 20 years before retiring and returning to Donora. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Morgan of Donora and Nancy DuVall of Ormond Beach, Fla. Survivors include his seven nieces and nephews, Randy (Linda) DuVall of DeLand, Fla., William (Jayne) DuVall of Carpinteria, Calif., Lisa (Robert) D’Orazio of Mt. Lebanon, James Morgan of Donora, David Morgan of Elizabeth, Scott (Tammy) Morgan of DeBary, Fla., and Susan Egidi of Donora, who cared for Barry during his illness. A bocce tournament at Palmer Park was a tradition he enjoyed with many high school friends whom he remained close to throughout the years. Barry was a witty, intelligent, kind and generous man who was adored by all who knew him, especially his nieces, nephews and their children. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L.
