, passed peacefully on Sept. 15, 2020. She was born on Dec. 7, 1929, to the late Harry and Mary Jane Shetler DeMay of Marianna. During her lifetime in Charleroi, she was a hairdresser and worked at Red Bull Inn and Rego’s Restaurant. Margie’s love for bowling started when she got married, and later, especially at Tan O Bell Lanes in Bentleyville, where she was also the treasurer. Some of her favorite pastime memories were there, along with her many friends. She was an avid euchre player and while living at Char House, she hosted many euchre parties and ran the elections. Margie also enjoyed her slot machines at The Meadows and her many trips to Atlantic City. Cooking and baking were her specialties, and everything that came out of her kitchen was delicious. She got pleasure in cooking for her family and friends and was known for her wedding soup. She dressed very fashionably and didn’t miss a week at the salon getting her hair done. Elaine, her hairdresser, always kept her hair looking great. She really liked to travel and would get in the car and go anywhere you wanted to go. She especially enjoyed staying in Florida with her son and loved the warm weather. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates. Margie had one of the best personalities a person could have. She was such a fun, loving, kind and giving person but wouldn’t hesitate to tell it like it was. “Big G,” as her grandson called her, never missed any of his sporting events. She even kept her own version of a detailed score book of his baseball games. She will live in his heart forever. During her illness, one person who could always make her laugh and brighten her spirit was her son-in-law, “Teet.” They had a unique relationship, and he kept her company as they watched her favorite shows together. She will be sadly missed by her granddaughter, who will treasure their many great memories and special bond forever. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Kent) Nichols of Carroll Township, with whom she made her home; a son, Bill (Elizabeth) Shelapinsky of Naples, Fla. (whom she loved to spend time with); her sister, Mary Lou (Wilbur) Williams of Washington, Pa.; her beloved grandchildren, Brody (Brandi) and Aubrey; along with many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Shelapinsky; brothers, Richard and Jim; and her sisters, Ruth, Vivienne and Helen. At Margie’s request, funeral arrangements were private. Arrangements were entrusted to SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC. Online condolences may be sent to the family at our website, www.schrock-hogan.com.
