Bentworth wasted little time getting on the scoreboard Wednesday, using the early momentum to cruise to a 5-0 Section 4-A victory over Monessen.

The Bearcats (2-0, 2-0) scored four goals in the first half, including three in the opening 10 minutes of the contest. Their first goal came just 29 seconds in.

“I told the kids the first five or 10 minutes were going to be the most crucial part of the game,” Bentworth coach Gary Amos said. “When we were able to score that first one, that was big.”

Two days after netting a hat trick in a 3-2 win over Chartiers-Houston, sophomore Julian Hays once again scored three goals against the Greyhounds (0-1, 0-1).
