Barbara Ann ‘Barb’ Luketich – Monessen

Barbara Ann Luketich, 91, of Monessen, passed away on Sept. 15, 2020. A lifelong resident of Monessen, Barbara “Barb,” lived a long and full life and enriched the lives of her family and friends. Born on Feb. 11, 1929, Barb was the youngest of five children and was raised in the family home at 1327 Summit Ave. She married Thomas George Luketich of Ellsworth on Feb. 1, 1947. She and her husband raised their two boys, Tom and Tim, in the same house where she lived out her days. Active and vivacious, Barb was a fixture at the Croatian Home and Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 194, where she was the president of CFU Nest 87 and an officer of the Croatian Club. She worked until late in life as a waitress at a number of local restaurants and clubs and served as a companion to a number of elderly Mon Valley residents. Always cheerful, respectful, kind and caring, Barb loved to engage with her friends from high school, relatives and the Croatian community. Barb and George were always attendees to picnics, banquets and social gatherings locally and in the tri-state region. The door was always open to friends and family at 1327 Summit and good times were guaranteed! Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons and their wives, Tom Luketich and Crystal and Tim Luketich and Senka; grandchildren, Courtney, Benjamin, Nathan, Goran, Scott and Katerina; as well as eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A private ceremony will be held and burial at the Grandview Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband George who preceded her in death in 2014.
