All Elizabeth Forward kids to get free lunch, breakfast

All students in the Elizabeth Forward School District are eligible to receive a free breakfast and lunch through the end of the year.

The district posted the notice on its website this week that the U.S. Department of Agriculture approved the meal program regardless of income guidelines.

District Superintendent Dr. Todd Keruskin said the free meals are available to all students, whether they attend school through the hybrid model two days a week or learn from home five days a week through the virtual program.

In addition to the meals served at the schools, bagged meals may be picked up for the days when students attend school from home.

Keruskin said students who attend in-person classes Mondays and Tuesdays can pick up their meals Wednesdays and Fridays between 5 and 6 p.m. at the middle school.

Students who attend classes in person Thursdays and Fridays can pick up the bagged meals Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Keruskin said.

While there is no cost and are no qualifications for the meals, registration is required so enough meals can be prepared.

“If you already signed up to receive bagged meals, you do not have to do anything further,” Food Service Director Kristen Savorelli told parents in a letter. “If you are not signed up and would like to get bagged meals now with this new information, please call the food service office, 412-896-2340. If you wish to be taken off this list at any time or are unable to make it to pick up meals one day, please let us know ahead of time, so that we can adjust our counts.”
