Allegheny County officials Wednesday announced a new COVID-19 testing site will open in McKeesport.
The site, located in RIDC’s Industrial Center of McKeesport, 455 Industry Road, will be open to the public 10 a.m. Sept. 15.
Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and Health Department Director Dr. Debra Bogen announced plans for the testing site.
The free COVID-19 testing is made possible by CARES Act funding that has been allocated directly to the county with support from the state, according to Bogen.
“We are extremely fortunate to have so many partners who have assisted us in this effort including the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Pennsylvania National Guard at the state level,” Fitzgerald said. “Locally, the Regional Industrial Development Corporation (RIDC) made the site available to us and have appreciated the work that has been done by the PA Region 13 Task Force, EMS West, Special Medical Response Team (SMRT), Pittsburgh Emergency Management, McKeesport police, McKeesport fire, and McKeesport Area Rescue Service.
“This service to county residents would not have been possible without the work by Allegheny County’s Emergency Services, Emergency Management, Fire Training Academy, Public Works, Facilities Management and Human Services.”
The McKeesport site is by appointment only. It is a drive-thru site and utilizes self-administered tests. Those who are unable to drive to the site can contact the COVID-19 Hotline at 1-888-856-2774 for additional options and resources.
