Mary E. Rice – California

Mary E. Rice, 96, of California, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020, at her home. Born in Fallowfield Township on May 11, 1924, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Endreszl Klingovsky. She was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Charleroi site. Mary was very noted for her tole painting in the area. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Samuel J. and Diane Rice III of Roscoe; a daughter, Mitzi Bailey of Fallowfield Township; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Rice Jr., in 2017; a daughter, Loretta Brammell, in 2001; two brothers, Joseph and Andrew Klingovsky; and two sisters, Anna Metzko and Amelia Veselga. Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 2020, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Charleroi site. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township. Due to the state mandate, masks must be worn in the funeral home and in church. We ask that you be mindful of social distancing and keeping your visiting time short.
