Janice P. Burke Stathers, 74, of New Salem, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020, at Uniontown Hospital. She was born on July 18, 1946, in Charleroi, daughter of the late Norman and Gertrude Rummell Burke. Janice retired from Fayette County A.R.C. as a teacher’s aide. She greatly enjoyed camping and her fur babies. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Stathers; sisters, Sally Reconnu and infant sister, Cindy; brother-in-law, Barry Taylor; sister-in-law, Connie Burke; her fur babies, Princess, Mickey and Sarah; and her grand-dog, Sam. Janice is survived by her son, Bruce Stathers and his wife Roseanne of New Salem, Pa.; brother, Barry Burke of Fallowfield Township; two sisters, Joyce Burke of Connellsville and Sandra Yuhas of Daisytown; special cousin, Claire Torkish of Perryopolis; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her fur baby, Minnie. Friends will be received at DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill St., New Salem, Pa., from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 2020, where a funeral service will be held with the Rev. Andy Miles officiating. Interment will follow in Salem View Cemetery. www.dearthfh.com.
