The Mon Valley will be represented at the White House tonight when President Donald Trump accepts the Republican National Convention’s nomination to seek re-election for a second presidential term Nov. 3.
U.S. Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Peters Township, will be at the White House lawn when Trump accepts the nomination to close out the four-day RNC.
Reschenthaler has represented the state’s 14th Congressional District including Washington, Fayette, Greene, and portions of Westmoreland County, including Monessen and North Belle Vernon, since Jan. 3, 2019. His current term ends on Jan. 3, 2021. He faces Democratic challenger Bill Marx in the general election.
Before joining Congress, Reschenthaler was a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate, representing District 37 from 2015 to 2019.
Reschenthaler will be attending as one of the state’s Republican delegates who nominates Trump.
“I think President Trump will deliver a positive and inspiring vision to renew, restore, and rebuild America to voters during his acceptance speech,” Reschenthaler said via an email to the Mon Valley Independent. “President Trump’s speech will resonate strongly with southwestern Pennsylvanians when he talks about his commitment to creating jobs right here in southwestern Pennsylvania by embracing America’s resources like natural gas and new clean coal technologies and bringing jobs back from overseas by holding China accountable for their unfair trade practices. I expect President Trump to highlight his commitment to restoring law and order to keep our towns and communities safe.”
