Donald R. Jones, 91, of Fairhope, Belle Vernon, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2020, in his residence surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Fayette City, son of Willard Jones and Jane Lavinia Lindey Jones. He was a member of Marion Presbyterian Church, Fairhope, Belle Vernon, and the Boy Scouts of America. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid golfer and had two sanctioned holes-in-one to his credit. He is survived by three children, son, Richard V. Jones and wife Viola of Fairhope, Belle Vernon, son, the Rev. Donald R. Jones Jr. and wife Patricia of Punxsutawney, Pa., and daughter, Lily Jones Farquhar and companion Leonard Barone of Allenport; brother, Willard R. Jones of Fayette City; granddaughter, Becky Lynn; grandson, Donald R. Jones III; granddaughter, Kimberly Lilley; granddaughter, Lindsay Keene; granddaughter, Jocelyn Blews; grandson, Lonnie R. Farquhar; granddaughter, Jessica Knopp; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elva Jones, on July 8, 2002; granddaughter, Jenna Jones; sister, Eileen Godissart; and brother, Robert Jones. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2020, at ELEY-MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME, Fayette City. Additional viewing will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020, at Marion Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held at the church starting at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Beth Lynn Nelson and the Rev. Donald R. Jones Jr. co-officiating. Interment will follow at Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon, www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Keeping in compliance with the county and state mandates, guests are asked to please abide by personal protective guidelines, masks MUST be worn, social distancing must still be maintained and to please minimize your visit to allow other family and friends to pay their respects to the family since we are still limited to 25 guests in the funeral home at a given time.
