Car hits window of Elizabeth Twp. bank

There were no serious injuries Monday when a driver accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake and struck a window at Northwest Savings Bank on Scenery Drive in Elizabeth Township.

Elizabeth Township Police Chief David Kerestes said the crash occurred at 1:40 p.m. 

The driver, Jane Contrella, 83, of Elizabeth, was not injured. A clerk inside the bank was treated for a complaint of pain, Kerestes said, adding that no charges would be filed.

“It was just an unfortunate accident,” he said.

A window at the bank was damaged and crews from Central Volunteer Fire Company of Elizabeth Township secured the scene. Kerestes said Southeast Regional EMS also responded.
