It was quite the coaching debut last season for Jack Kelley at South Allegheny.
In a record-setting year for Gladiator sports in general, the volleyball team also made some history, qualifying for the WPIAL playoffs for the first time in program history.
Expectations are undoubtedly on the rise for the Gladiators.
A new section will bring new challenges, but South Allegheny – which finished 7-7 overall and 5-7 in section last season – is ready to take them on.
“What I’m seeing in the gym this summer is wildly different than what it looked like when I took over the program last year,” said Kelley, who played high school volleyball at Belle Vernon Area. “Our ball control looks really good and we’ve had a couple new offensive weapons step up. The team is getting better and they know it. It will be interesting to see if all this excitement and confidence translates into wins.”
