Robert Louis Brown, 93, of White Oak, passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020. He was born Aug. 3, 1927, in Willock, and was the son of the late John Chizer and the late Alberta Curry Miller. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II as a radarman on the USS Boxer CV-21 Aircraft Carrier. He worked at the former Bell Telephone Company and later AT&T. He was a member of American Legion Post 701 in White Oak, the Polaris Masonic Lodge in McKeesport and the Frank Gun Cub in Buena Vista. He was also a Shriner and a Scottish Rite Mason. Robert was an avid golfer and hunter and was a Pittsburgh sports fan, most notably having Steelers season tickets for many years. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruth L. Lonkosky Brown; sons, Robert L. (Daria) of Pittsburgh and John W. (Lisa) Brown of Hopwood; grandchildren, Robert L. Brown III and Rebecca L. Brown, both of Pittsburgh; as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Gene Miller; and sister, Janet Godfrey. Private visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020, at GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 412-672-6322, Troy J. Gilbert, director. Private burial will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Shriners Hospitals at www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/shc.
