Edmund V. Duda Jr., 79, formerly of Belle Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, at Belair Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Lower Burrell. He was born Feb. 27, 1941, in Monessen, the son of the late Edmund “Rex” and Catherine Sedunov Duda. He was Catholic by faith and retired after a life-long career with Bell Atlantic and Southern Bell. Ed loved to bowl, enjoyed NASCAR, family trips to Deep Creek, caring for his dogs and the occasional Rusty Nail. He was in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years and was a volunteer fireman with O.W.L. in Woodbridge, Va. His favorite colloquialism: They told me to cheer up, things could be worse. So I cheered up and, sure enough, things got worse! He is survived by two sons, a daughter and a daughter-in-law; Mark Duda of Centerville, Va., Denise Moffa of Pitcairn and Mike and Diane Duda of Charleroi; a brother and partner, Peter Duda and Sara Lee Hillman of Annapolis, Md.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and David Atkinson of Belle Vernon; and 13 grandchildren, Shane, Brant, Gavin, Amanda, Zachary, Brian, Kennedy, Mitchell, Angela, Haley, Aaron, Eli and Josh. He is preceded in death by his son, Patrick Duda. Funeral services and interment will be private for the family.
