Delvin A. Miller, 62, of Monessen, went home to the Lord on Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, at Monongahela Valley Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Aug. 30, 1957, in North Charleroi, son of the late Henry and Jennie Dillard Miller. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Henry Wesley Miller. Delvin started dating his childhood sweetheart 49 years ago and on July 13, 2020, Delvin and Marsha Miller celebrated 35 years of wedded bliss. Delvin graduated in 1976 from Monessen High School, where he was a standout four-sport all-state athlete. He went on to become a four-year starter on the football team at the University of Kansas. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the university in 1981. Delvin was a member of Gate of Heaven Church of God in Christ in Monessen. Delvin had worked for AGAPE for many years and recently worked for the City of Monessen School District. He served as an assistant football coach for the Greyhounds and was an assistant girls basketball coach under “Tuffy” Corley. He is survived by his wife, Marsha J. Howell Miller; two sons, Ryan (Jessica) Miller and ShelDon Miller, all of St. Paul, Minn.; daughter, Dellyn Miller of Monessen; two sisters, Jessie (Bishop Edwin C.) Bass of St. Louis, Mo., and Valarie Hardison of Monessen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020, at Gate of Heaven Church of God in Christ, 644 Reed Ave., Monessen. Everyone attending the viewing and funeral services will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Elder Jack Howell officiating and Bishop Edwin C. Bass delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
