With nothing on the line, Dax Thomas State Farm and Monessen Florist played a tune-up game Wednesday night in preparation for their Mon Valley Independent Summer Basketball League playoff matchup on Monday.
Both teams came out with a laid back mentality but not too long into the game, it became a competitive prequel to their postseason bout.
Dax Thomas State Farm used a 9-0 run midway through the second half to gain some separation en route to a 51-44 victory over Monessen Florist at Marx’s Court Time Sports Center in Elizabeth Township.
Brownsville’s Emma Seto notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards, while Brentwood’s Ella Cupka led State Farm in scoring with 16 points.
California’s Kendelle Weston also had a strong game with eight points and five rebounds.
