With the coronavirus pandemic not showing any signs of slowing down, people are looking for ways to return to normal.
Professional sports are playing again, students are getting ready to return to school and businesses are doing their best to remain open.
A return to normalcy for residents in Stockdale and neighboring communities just received a welcome boost.
After a four-month absence, indoor bingo games will return to the Stockdale Volunteer Fire Department.
The games will resume at the fire department’s social hall at 7 p.m. Tuesday with doors opening at 5 p.m.
Jackpots for the games include $1,150 for the Early Bird Starburst, $500 and $320 for Two Magic Numbers and $2,600 in 51 numbers or less.
The announcement comes after Stockdale fire Chief Tom Wilkinson said the department received the go-ahead from the Pennsylvania Department of Health in July.
“It seems like there are so many double standards about what is allowed and what isn’t,” Wilkinson said. “So we decided to check on it. They said we can do it as long as we can do 6 feet for social distancing. Our bingo hall can hold 700 people, so it shouldn’t be a problem. We’re going to play it by ear and see how it goes.”
