The University of Mount Union’s baseball roster will soon feature four former Ringgold standouts.

And four former state champions.

Infielder Jake Rongaus and outfielder Dylan Wujcik, a pair of 2019 Ringgold graduates, will soon head to Mount Union where they will continue their academic and baseball careers alongside former Rams teammates Bobby Boyer and Chase Angotti.

All four were members of Ringgold’s 2018 state championship team.

“Having a group of guys that have been with you for four-plus years is a blessing in itself. Knowing that I will be with those same three guys for four more years makes it so much easier to get adapted to the environment,” said Rongaus, the son of Mark and Lisa Rongaus. “We have so many memories that we made throughout high school and I am looking forward to making even more in the next step of my life.”

Rongaus and Wujcik, both of whom are planning to major in Exercise Science, said they had multiple conversations with Boyer and Angotti about the possibility of attending Mount Union. Boyer and Angotti are heading into their sophomore years in Alliance, Ohio.

“They had a huge impact on me going there because they let me know all I needed to know about the school,” said Wujcik, the son of Cathy and the late Joe Wujcik. “The fact that I get to play with three of my former teammates is great and it’s something I am definitely looking forward to, and is one of the many reasons I chose Mount Union.”
