The deadline has been extended by a week to submit letters of interest to serve on Elizabeth Township’s Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.

The board of commissioners had anticipated appointing members of the board at tonight’s meeting, but chairman Kyle Walk said the motion has been pulled from the agenda to give more people an opportunity to express their interest.

“Nine letters of interest were received,” he said. “The comprehensive plan consultant, Environmental Planning and Development, has recommended 12 members at most.”

Walk said public input for the plan is essential.

“This is the guidance that the township will go by for the next 20 years,” he added. “It’s something that’s needed to happen for a long time and I’m glad this new board came together to do this.”
