A juvenile has been charged in the assault of two men and a woman after fireworks were set off close to one of their cars in Charleroi in June.
According to Charleroi Regional Police, Marquise Jones, 17, of Charleroi was one of five people who allegedly assaulted two brothers and one of their fiancées June 26.
Deputy Assistant District Attorney Jason Walsh said Thursday that Marquise Jones was certified as an adult in the case due to the nature of the crimes and extent of the victims’ injuries.
Marquise Jones was moved from a juvenile placement facility to the Washington County Correctional Facility this week in anticipation of the certification hearing Thursday. His bail was set at $75,000.
His preliminary hearing date hasn’t been set.
The other defendants — Morris Jones III, 18, and Danielle Rainey, 41, both of Lincoln Avenue; Erik Sean-Michael Spaziani, 24, of McKean Avenue; and Cidney Straight, 18, of Meadow Avenue — all face preliminary hearings Aug. 6 in front of Magisterial District Judge Eric Porter in Charleroi.
The other defendants are being held on $100,000 bond and remain jailed, according to court records, except for Straight who is free on bail.
All five defendants are charged with multiple counts each of criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, simple assault, riot, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats and harassment.
