The Belle Vernon Leopard Nation baseball team has had trouble with the bat at times during the Western PA Summer Baseball League season. Apparently the beginning of the playoffs is just what it needed.
Belle Vernon brought 10 batters to the plate in the opening inning and used a tremendous pitchingperformance from lefty Andrew Kostelnik to upset Seneca Valley Palomino, 7-5, at the John DiVirgilio Sports Complex Wednesday.
Donovan Von Fradenburgh, Aidan Ochs, Andrew Sokol and Dane Anden each supplied multi-hit games to the effort. Kostelnik only allowed two baserunners after the third inning and struck out three.
