After receiving a request from state Sen. Camera Bartolotta, the Senate Majority Police Committee will host a discussion on the challenges facing rural hospitals.
Bartolotta, R-Carroll Township, said the workshop, which will take place at Monongahela Valley Hospital, will be held in recognition of the essential role rural hospitals play in meeting the health care needs of many Pennsylvanians.
The workshop will run from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center, 1163 Country Club Road, Monongahela.
Bartolotta’s office said the discussion will focus on issues facing rural health care facilities and what challenges they foresee coming in the future.
“Rural areas like ours rely heavily on small local hospitals to meet the health care needs of the community,” Bartolotta said. “The long-term health of rural Pennsylvania depends on these facilities being available to serve patients now and in the future.”
