There’s a new team atop the boys division standings in the Mon Valley Independent Summer Basketball League.
Thanks in part to another forfeit loss by Farmers Insurance, BeeGraphix darted to the top of the league with a convincing 87-66 win over Elite Physical Therapy during Thursday’s league action at Marx’s Court Time Sports Center in Elizabeth Township.
What made the win more convincing and impressive was BeeGraphix played with only five players and without No. 1 overall pick Rodney Gallagher.
“I was extremely pleased with our effort tonight with having only five players,” BeeGraphix head coach Tim Tyree said. “Everyone gave something. I joked a little bit after the game that we may have been able to compete with them with four guys. But everyone out there did a great job.”
Chartiers Valley’s Brayden Reynolds finished one assist shy of a triple-double finishing with 29 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Belle Vernon Area incoming freshman Quinton Martin added 23 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in only his second game of the season.
“We were lucky to be able to get Quinton here tonight,” Tyree said. “He is one of the best, most-dominant 13-year-olds I’ve ever seen play.
“Brayden did a good job running the show for us tonight and showed he’s a great leader.”
