William ‘Herky’ Smichnick Jr. – North Belle Vernon

William “Herky” Smichnick Jr., 72, of North Belle Vernon, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at his home. Born April 1, 1948, in West Newton, he was the son of the late William and Eleanor Kopko Smichnick Sr. A resident of North Belle Vernon, Herky was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport plant, where he worked as a clerk. He was a member of numerous sportsman clubs throughout the Mon Valley and enjoyed watching Pirates and Steelers games. He is survived by two brothers and two sisters-in-laws, Ronald (Sally) Smichnick of Belle Vernon and Jeff and Michele Smichnick of Roscoe; two sisters, Darlene Smichnick of Charleroi, Kim Kibelbeck of Monessen; four nieces, Corrie Smichnick-Milcovich, Sydney Smichnick, Samantha Smichnick, Mary Ruffolo; a nephew, Nathan Smichnick; and numerous cousins. Private visitation and funeral services were held for the immediate family. Interment took place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, Belle Vernon. Condolences accepted at the funeral home’s website, www.parzynskifuneralhome.com.
