Thomas John Dineen – Port Vue

Thomas John Dineen, of Port Vue, age 77, died Saturday, July 18, 2020. He was born in McKeesport, on Nov. 23, 1942, the son of the late Thomas and Louise Villella Dineen. He is survived by his sons, Randy Dineen of Hilliard, Ohio and Ryan (Andrea) Dineen of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Katelynn, Preston and Camryn; loving companion, Patricia Doctorick of Port Vue; and wife, Donna Smocer Dineen of North Huntingdon. He retired as a meter reader for Westmoreland Water Authority and for years Tom spent countless hours as a basketball coach. He was the head coach at East Allegheny, assisted Serra Catholic, McKeesport, South Allegheny and Gateway over his three decades of involvement in the sport. He also spent many summers coaching AAU basketball and enjoyed a ten year stint with Robert Morris University. While he was the head coach at Court Time, he was offered a job as a professional basketball coach with the Pittsburgh Phantoms ABA franchise.
