Mary Ann ‘Antoinette’ Antczak Dirling – White Oak
Mary Ann “Antoinette” Antczak Dirling, age 84 and a longtime resident of White Oak, passed away on Thursday, Jul. 16, 2020, in HCR ManorCare, Monroeville, after battling an enduring illness. Born June 22, 1936, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Plavchak Antczak. Mary Ann graduated in 1954 from Divine Redeemer Academy, where she held the title of Miss Pinetum. After graduation, she worked at Apter Bros., where she met her husband on the switchboard, Kundman’s and Fitzy’s Confectioners, later in life with Eckerd Drug, and after retirement, at Phyllis’ Fashions, formerly in White Oak. A member of St. Edward’s Parish in Herminie, in her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, reading, shopping, talking with people and feeding the animals in her yard. Mary Ann will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was a kind and thoughtful person with a heart of gold that would do anything for anyone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special aunt, Mary Charmo. Mary Ann is survived by her husband, William C. Dirling of White Oak, with whom she would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Aug. 17; her son, William J. (Noreen) Dirling of McKeesport; her daughter, Traci A. (Jon) Procacina of Herminie, who cared for her the past 10 years; her brother, Ronald J. Antczak of California; the love of her life, who kept her smiling for the last 18 years, her grandson and godson, Justin J. Procacina — whom she loved more than life itself; her grandchildren, Nicole (Rug) Phatak, Christopher (Lauren) Dirling, and Kara Dirling; her great-grandchildren; her special friend, Debbie Gongaware; and her nieces. Friends will be received at DANIEL F. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 4504 Walnut St., Versailles Borough, McKeesport, PA 15132, 412-678-3454, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2020. Only 25 people will be permitted at a time; masks are required; CDC and state guidelines will be observed; and social distancing will be enforced on funeral home property. A blessing will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2020, with Father Matthew Elanjalith officiating. Procession and burial will follow to St. Joseph’s Cemetery, North Versailles.
