BeeGraphix picked up a thrilling 80-76 overtime victory over Howard Hanna Wilson Baum Thursday night in Mon Valley Independent Summer Basketball League play.

Bishop Canevin’s Trey Champine hit a game-tying 3-pointer to send the game into overtime before BeeGraphix (3-1) went on to outscore its counterparts, 10-6, in the extra frame.

“That was all about playing till it’s 0:00 and never giving up,” BeeGraphix coach Tim Tyree said. “What I told them I was most happy with was the effort. Our guys played for four quarters and some, and everybody gave a little bit of something.”

In overtime, Howard Hanna (2-2) struck first on a bucket by Montour’s Isayah Mosley before Ty Iwanonkiw hit a corner trey and Laurel Highlands’ Rodney Gallagher landed a floater to put BeeGraphix ahead, 75-72.

Steel Valley’s Makhai Valentine converted on a layup off a nice no-look dish from Mosley, cutting the lead to one with 2:26 on the clock.

On two straight possessions, Brayden Reynolds of Chartiers Valley went 4 for 4 from the free throw line, extending BeeGraphix’s lead to 79-74.

Howard Hanna cut the lead to three as Mosley hit a pair of free throws.

Howard Hanna had an opportunity to tie the game late, but a 3-point attempt by East Allegheny’s Cameron Rodney was blocked by Reynolds. Gallagher hit 1 of 2 free throws in the final seconds to seal the win.

Reynolds scored a game-high 29 points, while Gallagher added 20. Champine chipped in with 13, including a clutch trey at the buzzer that tied the game in regulation.

Champine hit the three after a 3-point attempt by Reynolds didn’t fall. Belle Vernon Area’s Daniel Gordon attempted to swat the ball away, but it instead landed in the hands of Champine, who nailed the shot to send the game into OT.

“He was in the right place at the right time and knocked it down,” Tyree said.
