The Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority will take over California University’s Vulcan Flyer shuttle service this year.

MMVTA Executive Director Ashley Seman made the announcment at a recent board meeting.

“I have some exciting news to share; we have a new partnership and contract service with California University,” she said. “We will be their new transportation provider starting this fall.”

Seman said the MMVTA learned of the opportunity though the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education portal and placed a bid for the one-year contract with the option to add two more years down the line.

The MMVTA is not new to the borough or the Cal U campus.

“We’ve been operating in the borough and the university campus since the implementation of the Silver Line back in the ’90s,” she said. “Beginning in the late ’80s, we started operating Route B, California to Charleroi bus route.”
