Police investigating fatal shooting of 29-year-old

Allegheny County Homicide detectives are investigating after a 29-year-old woman was found dead in her car early Thursday morning.

Allegheny County and McKeesport police were called to the 500 block of Fifth Avenue at 1:41 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a shooting.

Police and crews from McKeesport Ambulance Rescue Service found the victim, Ericka J. Stevens of Pittsburgh, in a vehicle in the parking lot across the street from a bar in downtown McKeesport. Her death was caused  by a gunshot wound.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Thursday she was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:53 a.m.

“Apparently there was a fight inside the bar prior to the shooting,” county police said.

The medical examiner said Stevens was shot in her car, but details on her death have not been released.
