While local youth teams are getting back on the playing fields following the COVID-19 pandemic, sports camps are picking back up as well.

Fayette County Baseball League and Team All-American coach Ryan Encapera, also an assistant coach at Penn State Fayette, will hold his annual baseball boot camps for area players ages 6 to 12 beginning next week.

The Hometown Youth Baseball Camp will be held Monday through June 24 from 9 a.m. to noon at the California Youth Baseball Fields located on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The Mon Valley Youth Baseball Camp will take place June 29 to July 1 at DiVirgilio Sports Complex in Rostraver Township.

A final camp, the Coach Dukate Greene County Camp, will be held July 7 to 9 at King Coal Fields in Carmichaels.

Each camper receives a T-shirt and each camp features three days of baseball instruction and skill competitions.

Camps feature various local players and coaches, including Cal U sophomore and former California High School standout Louden Conte, who is Encapera’s top player development guy.

“I’m still gathering my list of those involved,” Encapera said. “Each camp is different, but we have a lot of good players and coaches participating.”
