Aaliyah Johnson of McKeesport was alone before falling to her death from her ninth-floor apartment window May 26, according to Allegheny County Police.

Allegheny County police Superintendent Coleman McDonough hopes releasing the findings of the investigation will bring closure to Johnson’s family and loved ones and area LGBTQ+ organizations that have been pushing county police for answers surrounding her death.

Johnson, 32, a transgender black woman who was a hair stylist, performer and emcee in Pittsburgh’s ballroom scene, was found dead on the sidewalk on the 500 block of Sinclair Street in McKeesport.

McDonough said county detectives “can say conclusively” Johnson was alone in her Mid Town Towers apartment when she either fell or jumped to her death.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday ruled Johnson’s death as a suicide and said she died due to blunt impact injuries of the head and neck.
