Dennis “Denny” Bugar – Pennsylvania and Chincoteague Island, Va.

By obits

On Sunday, June 7, 2020, Dennis “Denny” Bugar, loving husband, father, son-in-law, brother, grandfather, and friend passed away at the age of 67. Denny was born on March 29, 1953, to the late Albert and Helen Podrosky Bugar. He was a dedicated science teacher and assistant athletic director at Ringgold High School for more than 30 years. He was a modern day MacGyver, who was in his glory building and fixing anything he could get his hands on. While Denny lived in Pennsylvania, he spent every summer on Chincoteague Island in Virginia working on rental houses. His idea of relaxing was to tear something apart and make it even better than before. Denny was an avid Steelers fan, but his true passion was going into the woods under the pretense to hunt and spend hours in the custom-built blind reading and doing crossword puzzles. He also loved hiking in the mountains. Denny met the love of his life in 1998, when he came to her house to install a new bathroom. Denny is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; sons, Joseph Kassab (Madeline) and Robert Kassab; brother, Gary Bugar (Paulette); sister, Nancy Macel (Thomas); granddaughters, Claire and Rebecca; mother-in-law, Frances Cantrelle; several nieces and nephews; best friends, Bobby Gray (Barb) and Marty Harris (Marsha); and countless other friends and associates who will miss him terribly. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church on Chincoteague Island, Va. Due to current conditions, the service will be private but will be live streamed by Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. Services entrusted to SALYER FUNERAL HOME INC. on Chincoteague Island, Va. Condolences may be made online at www.salyerfh.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the National Wildlife Federation.
