A local insurance company is giving back to the community through its support of the Finleyville Food Pantry.

The D.L. Townsend Insurance Agency and Erie Insurance Group of McMurray donated $2,000 and 400 reusable grocery bags to the Finleyville Food Pantry as part of the Erie Insurance “ERIE Agents Giving Back” project.

The effort has provided $2.5 million in funding for independent agents to use in support of their local communities.

Owner David Townsend said the donation is part of the agency’s commitment to members and communities.

“D.L. Townsend Insurance Agency is committed to being above all in service,” Townsend said. “We were excited to participate in the ERIE Agents Giving Back project and support our local community during this challenging time.”

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Erie agents have supported local businesses by purchasing food for health care workers and first responders, donating to local COVID-19 funds and assisting local nonprofits in need of help.

Tim NeCastro, president and CEO of Erie Insurance, said he is proud to see agents step up.

“We’ve seen so many Erie agents like the D.L. Townsend Agency stepping up to provide much-needed support to their local communities,” NeCastro said. “This project provides even more opportunities for our agents to continue this good work.”
