John Joseph Sposato, 78, of Belle Vernon (Fairhope), went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 8, 2020 in his home. A son of the late John L. and Dorothy Demas Sposato, he was born in McKeesport on March 18, 1942. Formerly of Clairton, John has been a resident of Fairhope since 1970. He had been employed by U.S. Steel as a millwright at the water treatment plant for nearly 40 years. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Marion Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Elizabeth Township Sportsman’s Association, the Fairhope Rod and Gun Club, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, American Legion Post 484 of Fayette City and the American Legion Riders of Fayette City. John loved spending time with his family, hunting and fishing in Franklin at his cabin and motorcycle riding. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sally Gitas Sposato; a son and daughter-in-law, John J. and Jill Sposato of Elizabeth; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Michael K. Hufford of Fairhope; six grandchildren, Michael Hufford, John R. Sposato, Skyler Sposato, River Sposato, Ember Sposato and Willow Sposato; two great-grandchildren, Alexandria Hufford and Silas Hufford; a sister, Constance Pastore of West Mifflin; and his faithful companions, Lizzie and Pippi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Jean DeBattista, Joan Kidd and Patricia Watkins. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com.
