The race for the 39th Legislative District was impossible to call before presstime Tuesday night due to a slower-than-normal vote reporting process.

Incumbent state Rep. Mike Puskaric, R-Union Township, squared off against Republican Tom Kirsch of Bethel Park.

The 39th District covers portions of Allegheny and Washington counties.

With just 9% of in-person Allegheny County precincts reporting, Puskaric was trailing Kirsch with 1,595 votes to 2,047 just after midnight.

In Washington County, there were no results available for any race after midnight. Attempts to reach county elections Director Melanie Ostrander were unsuccessful prior to press time.
