By obits

Anita E. Mazzei Sefchok, 91, of Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, was lifted to the gates of heaven on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Angelo Mazzei and Maria Cardamone Mazzei. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sefchok Sr.; and son, Jeffrey Sefchok. She was the last Mazzei matriarch, in a close-knit Italian family, the youngest of 10 siblings including five brothers, Pete, Angelo, Dominic, John and Frank Mazzei; four sisters, Josephine Marasco, Sue Touche, Theresa Sanino and Catherine Doenges. She is survived by three sons, Timothy Sefchok of Montgomery Village, Md., Gary and wife Dian Sefchok of Latrobe, Frank Jr. and wife Cheryl Sefchok of Perryopolis, and daughter-in-law, Athena “Tina” Sefchok of Hollidaysburg; eight grandchildren, Steven and wife Viktoriya, Gary Michael and wife Jayme, Justin and wife Olivia, Matthew, Nicholas and wife Danielle, Jeffery and wife Jessica, Ashley and Mackenzie; nine greatgrandchildren, Samantha, Slyer, Vincent, Isabella, Carter, Cameron, Lyla, Nina, Julia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who instilled strong family values. Anita was truly a “master chef” in the kitchen and enjoyed sharing recipes and teaching her daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren her culinary secrets. She truly looked forward to family gatherings at the holidays to host and prepare her favorite Italian and Slovakian dishes. Her love and devotion for her family was evident to all who knew her. There are many memories of wonderful beach vacations and great western trips across the United States. She was a lifelong member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Anita Garibaldi Society. She loved bowling, bocce, playing cards and arranging trips to Atlantic City. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020, at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Family and friends are asked to please gather directly at St. Sebastian Church for the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Anita will be laid to rest joining her husband Frank in Belle Vernon Cemetery Mausoleum. The Family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Anita Sefchok to Leukemia Society or the American Cancer Society. Keeping in compliance with the County and State Mandate of “green phase,” guests are asked to please abide by personal protective guidelines, masks must be worn and social distancing must still be maintained. Condolences accepted at the funeral home’s website, www.parzynskifuneralhome.com.
