Area reports 9 new COVID-19 cases

Just a dozen new deaths and a little more than 350 new cases of coronavirus were reported Monday as the state moves toward more openings Friday.

There were just nine new cases of the virus in Mon Valley counties and one new death. 

There have now been 72,282 cases of coronavirus in the state, including 356 new cases since Monday.

There were 12 new deaths reported, for a total of 5,567 fatalities due to the virus. 

Allegheny County now has 1,919 cases, an increase of eight patients. According to the DOH, there was one new death reported and that total is now 164. According to the Allegheny County Health Department, there were no new deaths and the total it is tracking is 151.

In Fayette County, there were no new cases, so that total remains at 95 and no new deaths, leaving that total at four.

Washington County reported one new case and no new deaths. Those totals are 140 and five respectively.

Westmoreland County reported no new cases, and that total is 449. According to the DOH, there were no new deaths and that total is 38. Westmoreland County Coroner Ken Bacha also reports no new deaths, and his total remains at 32.
