The community came together Thursday to celebrate South Allegheny High School seniors with a parade in their honor.
In districts throughout the Mon Valley, administrators are brainstorming creative ways to make sure seniors are recognized despite the global coronavirus pandemic.
South Allegheny Superintendent Dr. Lisa Duval said the district wanted to do something fun for its seniors.
“As most districts, we are constantly researching the allowances at any given time and making adaptations based on those guidelines,” Duval said. “We needed a way to pass out caps and gowns, along with honor cords, (National Honor Society) sashes and other items that students need for the ceremony, along with collecting any district items they may still have in their possession.
“Instead of making this just a task to be completed, we decided it was a perfect opportunity to do something fun and make it the first of two celebrations for our graduates.”
